Economic and financial feasibility grazing in alfalfa in different production systems milk

Abstract

The study aimed to evaluate the economic and financial viability of grazing on alfalfa in dairy production systems. To perform the analyzes was used a model developed by Southeast Livestock Embrapa - Brazil, that simulates a milk production system and allows to evaluate the economic impact of different technologies . Production systems using alfalfa as grazing were superior cost than systems that do not employ alfalfa. Alfalfa was used to cows milk production of 20, 25 and 30 kg. Systems utilizing alfalfa had higher economic and financial results to the traditional system, ranging from 8.91 % to 43.39 % by function of the cow milk yield and grazing time in alfalfa.
