Abstract

This article investigates how agribusiness is represented in the instructional materials of the National Book and Teaching Material Program (PNLD), assessing their conceptual, empirical, and statistical consistency. It posits that a significant portion of these materials employs generalizations, outdated data, fragile causal associations, and value judgments lacking factual support, thereby producing a biased representation of the sector. Based on systematized records regarding agribusiness in textbooks, the study examines seven themes: technology, foreign trade, sustainability, agrochemicals, financing, family farming, and the labor market. The findings reveal a recurrence of inaccuracies, omissions, and evaluative framing that compromise the quality of the information provided to students. The study concludes with the imperative for greater technical rigor, updated statistics, and a clear distinction between empirical evidence and interpretive judgment in teaching materials.
