Abstract

This study used a non-parametric production frontier model for measuring the agricultural production of Brazilian municipalities. By using fractional regression models, the study evaluated the intensity of the association between technical efficiency of production and contextual constructs, which represents measures that reflect Embrapa’s line of research; technical assistance to rural areas; and typical items of ways of delivering public policies. It was concluded that, in fact, these “typical items” are the only ones statistically significant for the improvement of production efficiency in Brazilian rural areas.
