Abstract

The objective of this research was to analyze the perception of agents working in institutions that are related to Pronaf Mais Alimentos in the city of Palmeira das Missões, RS. The data collection method used was interviews with semi-structured script. Interviews took place in april and may 2019. Respondents cite the program as an opportunity, specially for small farmers to invest in property in different segments, as interest rate conditions are low and long-term for payments. Among the positive aspects to the beneficiaries, the interviewees mention that the program has allowed the increase of productivity in both crops and livestock, which contributes to the growth of family income. In addition, it enables the improvement and facilitation of production processes by the possibility of purchasing agricultural equipment. Mechanisms that reduce the “porosity” of rural work and encourage children to stay on rural property. On the other hand, agents also mention that Pronaf Mais Alimentos contributes to the development of the regional economy, especially in the municipality, since resources tend to circulate in local commerce.
