Sizing the tour of fresh products: an analysis through Prohort data

Abstract

This article analyzes the source data of fresh products commercialization marketed in Brazilian wholesale markets to identify transactions between wholesalers markets that characterize the “ride of goods”. Takes as a conceptual reference the “food miles concept” by the Prohort/ Conab database. This work estimate the commercial transaction with public wholesale markets in Brazil as significant, estimate about ten percent for fruits and vegetables, suggesting various initiatives of coordination and agricultural policy.
