Abstract

This study aimed to identify possible products in the Bahia Southwest Region likely to apply for Geographical Indication record (GI). To this end, used to identify the characteristics relevant to a GI, defined in groups of two criteria: the first group provides the determination of the geographical indication area and the second is that product differentiation. After a wide literature review it was possible to characterize six potential products. One of these have started the certification process the Coffee of Conquista Plateau. The others were initially identified by their notoriety and from then we tried to trace its most vigorous characteristics seeking to validate the possible certification. Thus, it was possible to ratify the certification capability of four observed products: Cassava flour and biscuits of Vitória da Conquista, Meat-of-sun of Itororó, besides the the Coffee of Conquista Plateau.
