Abstract

The objective of this paper is to discuss the rural development in the areas that produce soybean, in states of Paraná and Mato Grosso, Brazil, specifically in the municipalities that make up the main mesoregions that produce this commodity. From the analysis of the main components, the municipalities were classified according to the rural development index (RDI). It was evidenced that soybean culture has contributed to the rural development process of the producer mesoregions, but its contribution in Paraná and in Mato Grosso occurs in completely different ways.
