Notes on aggregate agricultural production function of the state of Paraná
Keywords:
production elasticities, Cobb-Douglas production function, return to scaleAbstract
The aim of this work is to estimate and analyze the aggregate agricultural production function of the state of Paraná, Brazil; it specifically aims to identify the main determinants of production and at what stage of production the state is. Therefore an economic analysis was performed based on data from the Brazilian 2006 Agricultural Census related to the 339 municipalities in Paraná through the use of the Cobb-Douglas production function. The results indicated that the factors of production have been employed in an economically rational way (stage II), have constant returns to scale, and the technology (tractor), financing and area factors, in that order, proved to be determinant in the agricultural production of that state.Downloads
