Abstract

The Africa-Brazil Agricultural Innovation Marketplace is an international partnership aimed to foster agricultural research for development by supporting policy dialogue and funding of collaborative projects to the benefit of smallholders. Over the first four rounds of the project selection, it was observed that the quantity and quality of pre-proposals submitted varied between African regions. The main objective of this study was to assess whether these variations could be attributed to social, political, economic, scientific or technological factors of the participating African countries. To this end, 267 pre-proposals submitted were analyzed. The results obtained in this study suggest that there should be a change in the communication strategy used by the program.
