The objective of this paper was to identify the share of the Brazilian agricultural and livestock in Brazilian trade balance. To this end, this study prepared a specific database on agricultural and livestock trade for the period 1989–2012, and proposed a classification of the groups of agricultural and livestock products according to distribution intervals related to the mentioned period. The results point to a structural surplus of Brazilian agricultural and livestock trade. However, the study also highlights groups of products that cause deficits in the trade balance, and/or groups that represent possible windows of opportunity for better results regarding specific traded products.Downloads
