Abstract

This study presents calculations and analyzes of the biodiesel production costs, from farming to processing. It was considered the biofuel produced from six agricultural raw materials, in the five regions of Brazil, in three industrial scales. In one of the fronts, it was calculated the cost by taking into account the insertion of the agricultural raw material as production cost and, in the other, starting from its regional market price. The study takes into consideration processing plants that integrate the raw material crushing to obtain the oil and also the biodiesel processing. The calculus and the analysis of biodiesel were also processed, which involves costs and yields of the byproducts during the processing and the elaboration of the biodiesel in the total calculation, positive or negative, without considering the markup. In the second case, the biodiesel value can increase to compensate the loss of byproducts produced during the processing or decrease as it incorporates gains with byproducts selling. The general results show that the biodiesel produced from the cottonseed, in the Northeasterner of Brazil, is the most competitive in the country.
