Abstract

The main objective of this research is to verify the impact of the biodiesel production in the raise of the cultivated area with soybean and castor bean, as well as the generation of agricultural employment. From the analysis of the diesel oil demand in Brazil, it was done a projection of its consumption and, considering the mixture percentage, it was estimated the demand for biodiesel. Since it was estimated how many hectares should be cultivated, besides the need of labor to supply the biodiesel demand, considering two settings: the first the demand would be served just by soybean or castor bean and, in the second, those cultures would serve ¼ of the biodiesel demand. The results allowed the checking of the importance of the Program’s adoption and its impact to the focused cultures, showing the need of the area raise addressed to these cultures, especially in the castor bean case.
