The article analyzed the evolution of the agricultural employment quality in the sugar cane crop over 1992–2005. For the analysis, a group of indicators was selected based on the National Household Sample Survey (Pnad) data, that considered four dimensions: employees’ educational level; employment degree of formality; main work income; and benefits received by the employees. The results showed that important improvements took place in the employment quality in this period for all the workers’ categories. In spite of the important progresses in the employment quality, there are still some problems in the salaried labor market in the sugar cane crop, mainly that linked to the labor rights of the temporary employees.Downloads
