Brazil responses to the world economic and financial crisis: an agricultural approach

Abstract

This article analyses the impact of the world economic and financial crisis in the brazilian agricultural production and exports with emphasis to agricultural commodity price behavior and the liquidity crisis faced by the sector. It reviews the major policy decisions undertaken to counteract the negative effects of price instability and disruption on the financing of agricultural production and exports, and take note of the main concerns related to the present review of the Brazilian agricultural policy.
