Abstract

The objective of this paper is to verify the Brazilian cachaça’s export competitiveness concerning Germany and the United States of America. This was done using the Regional Orientation Index. The results show that for Germany in all years of the study period there was a trend to the direction of exports to this country. However, for the United States of America the index did not present equal or greater value than that unit until 2007, although it shows continued growth from 2003 on, reaching in 2008 and 2009 values indicating a trend to orientation for this country too.
