Abstract

The application of rural credit resources in Brazil, since 1996, is being increasingly driven by zonings – especially based on soil and climate conditions – to reduce the production risk. This paper uses the best score method for homogeneous areas delineation – based mainly on economic information and technical coefficients – to find out the Northeastern counties more oriented to milk livestock and support the establishment of a zoning application for the credit. It was found out that the methodology is able to distinguish the better municipalities, both in terms of significance of the production as the growth of activity and it is a good reference as a guide for the development institutions and to the productive agents.
