Abstract

The present study analyzes the productivity of secondary temporary crops (STC) in the southern region of Brazil. For this, data from the year 2017 from the Agricultural Census, Municipal Agricultural Production and the Central Bank of Brazil were used for 1,190 municipalities. Firstly, an Exploratory Spatial Data Analysis (AEDE) was carried out, in which the spatial dependence between STC productivity in a municipality and STC productivity in neighboring municipalities was verified. Next, spatial regressions were estimated to verify which variables supported by the literature on agricultural productivity influence STC productivity. It was found that the Durbin spatial model (SDM) is the most appropriate for this study, in which it was observed that STC productivity is positively influenced by technical guidance and Pronaf, while the labor and mechanization factor is not have a statistically significant effect due to the current characteristics of production in STC.
