Abstract

Livestock in the Brazilian Midwest region is essential for the country’s economy, since the bovine production corresponds to one third of the national production. Thus, the objective of this work was to study the relationships between the technological and economic aspects of the largest livestock-producing municipalities located in this region, using the method of canonical correlation analysis (CCA) method. The data used were collected from the automatic recovery system (Sistema de Recuperação Automática, SIDRA) of the Instituto Brasileiro de Geografia e Estatística (IBGE), and from the 2017 agricultural census, from a sample of the 50 largest cattle-producing counties located in the Midwest region. The results indicate that the technical profile is strongly represented by the access to agricultural credits and investment, while the economic profile is strongly influenced by revenue, profit, and production area – in particular, as the higher is the revenue, the lower will be the average cost of production.
