Milk production in Brazil is quite dispersed and heterogenic, spread over almost all municipalities. In this study, based on data from the annual agricultural census on municipal bases, it aimed to assess the level of concentration of milk production in 2019. For this purpose, the analysis of the Concentration Ratio (CR) was developed in a descriptive and cartographic way. According to the results obtained, it was observed that milk production is concentrated in the following mesoregions of the Brazilian territory: Triângulo Mineiro, Alto Paranaíba, South and Southwest in the state of Minas Gerais, Northwest of the state of Rio Grande do Sul, West of the state of Santa Catarina, Southwest of the state Paraná, Center and South of the state of Goiás. The milk production density map by municipal area allowed to visualize other milk producing regions in the country, such as important agreste dairy basins (semi-arid) of the states of Alagoas and Pernambuco and East of the state of Rondônia. On municipal bases, the results of the analysis of the productive concentration show dispersion of production, that is, with CR (1) and CR (10) presenting percentage equivalents of 0.80 and 4.36, respectively. On the other hand, at the mesoregional level, due to the gathering of data on production for a large region, CR (10) presented 43.45, where the main mesoregions concentrated in 2019 almost half of the national production.Downloads
