Technological profile of Brazilian farmers
Keywords:
Canonical correlation analysis, conservative modernization, dual agricultural policy.Abstract
The process of modernization of the field produced not only a great increase in agricultural productivity, but also several social problems. In Brazil, conservative modernization resulted in the formation of two classes of producers: modern wealthy farmers and poor farmers with low access to technology. As of 1995, a dual policy was adopted, which consisted of an attempt to reconcile the interests of agribusiness and family farming, simultaneously, through modernizing policies aimed at family farmers. This article aims to study the effects of this dual policy on the technological profile of the farmer. The study used the canonical correlation analysis method and data from the 2017 agricultural census. The results indicate a change in the modernizing profile with the emergence of an intermediate class of producers.Downloads
