Agroindustry: conceptual delimitation for the Brazilian economy
Keywords:
Classification, CNAE 2.0, subclass.Abstract
It is verified in the literature that there is no consensus regarding the activities belonging to the agroindustryin Brazil, which constitutes not only a problem of definition in itself, but also a difficulty regarding data collection and systematization. Thus, this study aims to review the available literature on the definition of agroindustry, its analytical possibilities, limitations and adaptations and to concatenate the definition of agroindustry with the classification norms of economic activities existing in Brazil so as to be able to present agroindustry classifications. For the Brazilian economy, based on the latest version of the National Classification of Economic Activities (CNAE), CNAE 2.0 officially adopted by the National Statistical System and the federal administrative records management bodies in 2006. As a result of this study, two tabulations are presented considering a broad concept and a restricted concept. For this delimitation, the subclasses of CNAE were used as a basis because this is the lowest possible level of disaggregation of information regarding economic activities. This detailed classification may contribute to the elaboration of other future studies, facilitating the collection of data on the subject, as well as contributing to the public policy makers having a better knowledge about the segments of the manufacturing industry that make up the agroindustry.Downloads
