Over the last decade, the Paraná State has received substantial financial resources directed to the sugar-energy sector within the national policies. Thus, this study used information on National Socio-Economic Development Bank (BNDES) financing for the sugar-energy sector in Paraná, in order to show its dynamics in the State. The market concentration analysis was performed for the years 2001, 2008 and 2016. In addition, the study used aspects of spatial analysis to evaluate the relationship between the growth of planted areas and its yields in the municipalities of Paraná. The results show that the activity developed in the North Central region and in the Northwest of the State were regions that presented higher yield per kilogram/hectare (kg/ha). The results also evidence market concentration in the cane activity. However, the market share alternates between plants, which may indicate influences of financing received by the BNDES and reveals changes suffered by the sector due to credit policies.Downloads
