Abstract

This article discusses the Climatic Risk Agricultural Zoning (ZARC) highlighting its particularity among other types of zoning, based on a review of its methodology, operation and legal connection with programs aimed for crop insurance such as the Agricultural and Livestock Guarantee Program (PROAGRO) and the Rural Insurance Premium Subvention Program (PSR). Furthermore, it also analyzes some results, based on indicators developed for this purpose, which ha13ve been provided to PROAGRO through this tool and that makes it possible to notice that there were positive contributions regarding decrease in losses in agriculture. Given the importance of the issue, especially because of ZARC’s association with the programs aforementioned and, in some cases, with rural credits, we expect to contribute to a better and clearer understanding of its role and its scope.
