The segment of Eucalyptus planted forests in Mato Grosso do Sul/Brazil has a significant social and economic importance to the regional economy, especially when considering the generation of employment and income in the region under analysis, and the solid and steady growth of production and productivity of the sector investigated. We noted therefore the importance of thinking strategically and planning the planted forest segment in question, in order to maintain and maximize their socioeconomic benefits. Therefore, the general purpose of the present study is characterize and systematize information about the production segment of planted Eucalyptus in Mato Grosso do Sul/ Brazil, under the theoretical and methodological perspective of the so-called “Agroindustrial Production System Approach (SAG) ‘- which analyzes the production systems from upstream (of the raw materials segment) to downstream (to the end consumer segment) of the production system under consideration. To this purpose, we performed an exploratory and descriptive study, with the use of secondary data. We detected, from the systematization of collected information, that the production system under study presents the challenge of synergize the coordination of the system as a whole, with the aim to reduce the dependence degree of certain points in the system (mainly forest producers, mills, sawmills and ceramics), creating and communicating value to potential end customers, and maximize the social and economic gains of the system in question, as a whole.Downloads
