Keywords:

This study aimed to establish an order of importance for different risks to Brazilian agriculture. We evaluated 63 agricultural risk events by 502 experts. This paper deals with 28 events. These events are considered intermediate risk and the risk categories are where these events are: International Trade, Credit, Production Management, Natural Resources Management, Infrastructure and Logistics, Regulatory framework and Conflict of Interest, Market and Marketing and Animal Health. Sorting by greater economic loss, the event with the most votes (77.65%) is “FMD”. The second highest intermediate risk event (74.93 %) is “changes in non-tariff barriers (technical, sanitary)”. The third highest intermediate risk event (74.70%) is “BSE”. The fourth highest intermediate risk event (71.52%) is “Bird flu”. And the fifth highest intermediate risk event (68.73%) is “Sudden reduction in storage capacity/storage infrastructure”. It is crucial to create policy instruments to mitigate the risks associated with each of these events in order to reduce vulnerabilities of national agriculture.Downloads
