Abstract

The objective of this paper is to evaluate the effects of the exchange rate and of the international prices on the domestic price of instant coffee in the period from 1990 to 2004. The applied methodology is the “shift-share”, also denominated “differential-structural” method. The results suggest a larger influence of the international price on the domestic price of the instant coffee than the exchange rate. The domestic prices of the instant coffee an annual medium increase of 2,37% is verified.
