Abstract

Agriculture is a highly risky economical activity. Extreme climatic events can negatively affect the agricultural yield and the sector profitability. To manage these risks producers used to choose several risk management tools. Mutualism is one of the oldest forms. This article presents analytically how producers cope with their risks creating mutual societies to assure their incomes against adverse random events.
